Top Shelf is a unique opportunity to highlight new, featured, or recommended content and let your guests jump directly into the app to view it. The top shelf content serves as an additional branding and promotional opportunity to showcase specific content and features to your guests.
To add content, in CMS you will need to navigate to Platforms and then Select Connect TV.
Once there, you’ll select Style.
You will then see several tabs on the left side of the main screen. These correspond to the different Monscierge apps for your property. Also, if you are wanting to update your app icons on the Apple TV Apps tab you can download a template to use, and even select different themes as well.
For the Dynamic Topshelf you will of course select the Dynamic Topshelf, and then chose the Display Type you would like to use and then upload your images.
There are 3 different display types; Standard Top Shelf Image, Full Screen Video, and Carousel Content.
- Standard Top Shelf Image is a static image that you can change out periodically.
- Full Screen Video will have a thumbnail image used for when the app first loads, and then will start looping the video there after. It is clickable so your guests can view it in full screen with audio as well.
When adding the video URL you will first want to select Streaming as the Video Type and then paste your URL.
**Please note, at this time our system only accepts Vimeo URLs. Learn how to generate the correct Vimeo URL.
Once the URL has been added, you will need to upload an image to be used as a Thumbnail. Click Update before moving to the next App. - Carousel Content are multiple images that will scroll through automatically after so many seconds. You have two options for the carousel, Full-Width Banner and Content Blocks. Full-Width will use up most of the topshelf space for the image and then scroll to the next. Content Blocks will show the images in a 1:1 ratio and not scroll automatically, but your guests can scroll through them.
For carousel images, each image can also have a different action if your guest clicks on the images. These actions vary by the type of app, but include Do Nothing, Open App, Open a Feature, Open a Request Template, Open a Recommendation.
When adding the Carousel Content, first Select the layout type you want(Full-Width or Content Blocks), and then start uploading your images. We do require a minimum of three images, and have a maximum of 8 per app.
Once you have uploaded your images, you can then select the actions you’d like to happen when your guest clicks on the image. You can do this by clicking on the dropdown box next to each image.
If you are choosing to link to a request, feature, or recommendation then after selecting that a blue link below the dropdown will appear so you can select which specific thing you’d like it to link to
Once you have all your selections make sure to click update in the upper right before moving to the next app.
Once you’ve added images, you can also replace the image or even the link action later by selecting the 3 dots to the right of the image.
You can also rearrange the image order by selecting the 6 dot icon next to the 3 dots and dragging the image to where you’d like it.
Make sure to click Update in the upper right to save your changes. You will also see an alert letting you know the changes only refresh every 24 hours on the Apple TVs unless you manually reset them
